Masaba, who is very familiar with the phrase ‘form is temporary’, believes that his team’s form in the Uganda Premier League will not matter in the Uganda Cup, especially against a Police side lower than them in the ranks.
BUL had promised to step up this season and push the big boys for the StarTimes Uganda Premier League title after their Uganda Cup triumph last year.
However, the edible oil manufacturers have slipped on their own products and railed off the title contention.
Their only hope this season could be in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, where they made the grade as one of the best eight teams in the competition.
They face Police on Wednesday in the first of the four quarterfinal fixtures as they bid to progress to the semifinal and mask their inadequacies this season.
Interim coach Simeone Masaba is already under pressure barely a month into his temporary tenure and will be praying that lady luck looks his way on Wednesday.
“We’re in a competition where you cannot take any risks,” Masaba, whose only victory at BUL came in their 1-0 win over Onduparaka in the round of 16, warns.
Form is temporary
Masaba, who is very familiar with the phrase that ‘form is temporary’, believes that his team’s form in the league will not matter in the cup, especially against a side lower than them in the ranks.
“Uganda Cup neither has a formula nor respects current form; we just need to see that we manage the 90 minutes well. We’ve been struggling in the league but have been scoring goals and getting the results in the Cup,” Masaba added.
