Tusker FC returned to winning ways in a big way when they thrashed hapless Shabana 4-0 to avenge their first leg defeat in October
Tusker FC returned to winning ways in ruthless fashion when they thrashed Shabana 4-0 at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay on Sunday.
Shabana were the first to ask the questions when youngster Ezekiel Omuri drew a good save from goalkeeper Brian Opondo but shortly after, Tusker were celebrating the opener.
Eric Kapaito continued his fine form when he set up Deogratious Ojok and the striker made no mistakes with a beautiful low shot to make it 1-0.
Kapaito and Ojok then had opportunities to extend the lead, the former with a well-taken shot which went wid, before the latter saw his shot blocked for a corner.
The former Kariobangi Sharks striker then attempted an audacious overhead kick on the stroke of halftime but saw it fly over the bar as the brewers went in at the break with a 1-0 lead.
Ten minutes after restart, Ibrahim Joshua extended Tusker’s lead with a thunderous strike that the keeper could only push into his own net and Robert Matano’s men were out of sight just after the hour when Shapan Siwa made it 3-0.
Joshua flicked the ball to Chrispin Erambo who spotted Siwa’s run and fed him before he beat the goalkeeper with a low shot in the 64th minute.
Tusker put the icing on the cake with a fourth goal when Joseph Mwangi easily tapped in to seal the big win.
It is a victory that saw Tusker end their two-game losing run and has now lifted them to fourth on the table with 34 points, 10 behind leaders Gor Mahia, while Shabana are second from bottom with 18.
