The Tusker coach had a touchline altercation with his Ingwe counterpart that later spilled into the corridors of justice
The 2022/23 FKF Premier League season came to an end a fortnight ago as Gor Mahia lifted a historic 20th league title at the expense of Robert Matano’s Tusker who have had a campaign to forget as they lost two trophies in one week.
There were several unforgettable moments throughout the season, but one of the highlights was the feud between Matano and AFC Leopards coach Patrick Aussems.
The feud occurred in early April during a match between the two sides. Tusker won 1-0 with a last-minute goal and having had a touchline spat, Aussems extended the 'beef' online, making derogatory remarks about Matano.

FKFPL “If I am using juju, it is good because it is my choice!” Matano fires back at Aussems
In April, the relationship between both Matano and Aussems was soured when the latter tactcian labeled him "a juju man".
“Unfortunately we have been punished at the last minute due to a lack of aggressiveness ! Congrats to the players of Tusker. Of course I won't talk about an old coach with no international experience who is more a djudju man than a tactician... one could learn!” the Belgian tactician posted on Twitter.
The 'Lion' then lived up to his threats to seek legal action over the tweet going by a demand letter sent to Aussems by his legal representatives Wambilianga Majani and Associates.

FKFPL ‘Juju man’ jibe lands Leopards’ Aussems in trouble as Tusker’s Matano takes legal action
The ‘Lion’ has demanded a written apology from the Belgian in the next three days.
Through the demand letter, Matano wanted a written apology from Aussems, which was to be further published on the Belgian’s Twitter account over the three days, failure to which he would have instituted full legal proceedings against him.
With Aussems refusing to apologise and legal proceeding potentially in the offing, Matano has opened up on what really happened.

The 27-year-old next destination is still unclear, but a return to Gor Mahia could revive his career after a disappointing at Azam FC.
“We had played a good game with minimal troubles, then the referee added four minutes of extra time. Moments later, the ball went out for a throw in our favour,” Matano told Radio 47.
“I saw him (Aussems) going to take the ball, which was meant for us. When the ball boy took the ball to give it to our player, he grabbed it from him and then stepped on it.
“The ball boy went to take the ball again, but Aussems refused. At that point, I started wondering what was going on and approached the fourth official to ask what was going on, and why he was delaying play and denying us the ball when it was literally our turn to throw it, but he did not listen to my concerns.

FKFPL “You cannot kill a lion with stones!” Matano directs another jibe at Aussems
Tusker have their fate in own hands after holding Gor Mahia to a barren draw to preserve league leadership.
“I took the matter into my own hands and went to take the ball myself. Nothing else was going on. I was just taking the ball, but he spotted me and kicked it away. So I followed the ball, but Lawrence Webo (Leopards goalkeeper trainer) got it first and kicked it back. They were literally trying to deploy time wasting tactics.
“I eventually got the ball, gave it to my player and went back to sit in my technical area, but they followed me hurling insults at me. The game went on, we scored a goal and then won that match.
“At full time, he came to my technical area and continued insulting me, but I continued ignoring him.”
However, while Matano insists he did 'nothing', the two coaches could be seen exchanging harsh words in the technical area way before time added on. The late time wasting antics, therefore, just escalated what had already been building up earlier in the match.
Matano happens to be a paid-up life member of Leopards and it will be interesting to see how he handles the delicate matter that involves the team he works for and the one he supports.
