The 'Lion' is anticipating a tough clash away to the sugar millers on Saturday

Defending champions Tusker are gearing up for more action in the domestic league as they prepare to face Nzoia Sugar at the Sudi Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Brewers will be looking to add three more points to their league tally before they turn their attention to the upcoming Mozzart Bet Cup quarter-final clash against KCB.

Speaking ahead of the game, coach Matano said his side are wary that Nzoia Sugar's form should not deter their current preparations.

"It is a good team," Matano said. "They have been consistent this year and won many matches home and away. It is an all-round team that is very tough and technical but we are ready for the team.

"We want to consolidate our lead on the league table if possible," he added.

Tusker recently crossed the 51-point mark in the league with the recent resounding 2-0 over Waito FC in Ruaraka.

With the win, the brewers went above Gor Mahia and are now at the top of the standings.

The win helped strengthen the team's win at the top of the table, but Matano, in a separate interview, says they are not under pressure to win the title.

"I'm not worried at all. It's not a matter of life and death. There are quite several matches left and anything is still very possible," Matano said.

The brewers have been superb away from home in 202/23, claiming 21 points from a possible 43.

In head-to-head stats, Tusker and Nzoia have met in 32 league matches since 2017. The brewers have claimed six wins compared to two for sugar millers, while two matches have been drawn. The Ruaraka-based outfit has won three of their six away matches against Nzoia, suffering one defeat.
