The Brewers registered their first back-to-back win of the year.
Tusker FC custodian Patrick Matasi has lauded his teammates after they secured a 1-0 win over Posta Rangers in Sunday's Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) tie at the Kasarani Annex.
The 35-year-old shot-stopper starred in the game, where he produced a series of superb saves and denied Brian Marita what would have been an equalizer.
Shami Mwinyi scored his fourth goal of the season as Tusker registered two consecutive wins in the league and ninth in the 16 matches played this season.
In a post-match interview, Matasi hailed his colleagues for their great performance while acknowledging their solidarity in the tie.
"I am happy with how we played against Posta Rangers because we had yet to register a win in the past five matches before the Mathare United game.
A clean sheet is good to us as we have been struggling to come from behind…The win against Rangers is a big motivation for us and especially to me as a goalkeeper and our defenders," he said.
The Brewers secured what was a comfortable win despite only occasionally hitting top gear, with Mwinyi's goal the only shot on target in the first half.
Matasi then made saves to deny Brian Marita and kept a clean sheet in a game that showed Tusker had massively improved after working on their aggressive side of play.
The win moved them to fourth spot in the log after garnering 31 points from 16 games played this season.
Matasi will look to continue in their rich vein of form when Tusker faces Berlin FC of Garissa in the FKF Cup in their quest to win their fifth title since the cup's inception in 1956.
