Striker is enjoying a bright run and hopes to continue with his goalscoring spree.
Daniel Otieno believes he has much to offer for Mathare United after his second-half strike enabled his side to secure a 2-1 win over Gor Mahia in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) fixture on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old marksman came to Mathare's rescue after scoring the winning goal to earn his side their fifth win of the season.
It was the Slum Boys who took an early lead through Douglas Kibet, but the visitors leveled proceedings three minutes after the hour mark courtesy of Benson Omala before Otieno, who came off the bench, scored the winner eight minutes from time.
After the match played at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani, Otieno says he wants to score more goals for the team in the other games.
"I am just happy and humble that I could score the winning goal. I have set an ambition to score more goals thus you should expect more from me.
I want to thank all my teammates for their support. They are always giving me good passes, always setting me up to score the goals. I am happy that I can repay them by scoring," said Otieno.
Otieno is in the form of his life, having already scored five beautiful goals, which can easily contest for the goal of the season accolade.
Meanwhile, Mathare United coach Samuel Koko praised his team for showing strong character to earn the win.
"A win only comes when you have prepared for it. We were well prepared for the match, having come from a win against Wazito.
Our matches against Gor Mahia are always challenging, and I had prepared my boys for the encounter. However, despite the win, I can't say we are already out of the relegation zone because the second leg still has many matches," said Koko.
After a poor run at the beginning of the season, Mathare have seen an improvement as they have won four of their last five matches.
They climbed the table to position 15th on the league standings, having amassed 16 points from 16 matches.
Mathare's next game is on Wednesday when they take on Sofapaka at the Kasarani Annex from 1:00 pm.
