Kylian Mbappe scored five goals to power PSG past French amateur side US Pays de Cassel in the Coupe de France round-of-32.
Kylian Mbappe hit US Pays de Cassel for five in PSG's 7-0 Coupe de France round-of-32 win.
PSG were hosted by Hauts de France Regional 1A side, US Pays de Cassel at Lens' Bollaert-Delelis Stadium. The Paris Giants showed no mercy to the French 6th-tier side, scoring seven goals.
Five-star Kylian Mbappe
Kylian Mbappe captained PSG for the first time tonight in their game against Pays de Cassel.
The French regional side held PSG at bay for nearly 30 minutes, but when the dam broke in the 29th minute, PSG flooded them with goals.
PSG needed a little luck for their first goal; a deflection aided Kylian Mbappe's strike to beat Roman Samson in goal for Pays de Cassel.
No luck was needed in the second, which came less than five minutes after the first, as Kylian Mbappe found Neymar free in the box for the Brazilian to finish in the 33rd minute.
PSG scored again, one minute after the second, and it was already brewing to be an embarrassing outing for Cassel at this point, as Mbappe lobbed the ball over the keeper from the edge of the box.
At the 40-minute mark, Mbappe went for another chipped finish to make it 4-0 for the captain.
PSG resumed the break in unrelenting fashion; the Ligue 1 champions did not let up as they continued the routing.
Mbappe got his poker in the 56th minute as the two-time World Cup finalist danced through the defence to bring himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper before dummying the unsuspecting Roman for his fourth and PSG's fifth.
PSG's sixth goal was the only one on the night that did not involve Kylian Mbappe directly. Carlos Soler received a through ball from Neymar before finding the bottom corner with a powerful shot.
Mbappe would get the final say in terms of scoring, as he connected with a cross from the scorer of the sixth, Soler, in the 79th minute to take the scoreline to 7-0.
Lionel Messi was tested for the game, as PSG match on to the Coupe de France round-of-16
Pays de Cassel captained by a PSG Ultra
Pays de Cassel's captain, Alexis Zmijak, is a PSG Ultra. The superfan could not contain his emotions before the game and was reported to have swapped jerseys with Kylian Mbappe at half-time while his were four goals down.
"If Mbappé goes on goal, do I tackle him or not?" Zmijak pondered.
"Do I say to myself: wait, he must play Bayern in the UCL soon?"
"It's a strange feeling to be fighting on the field now against the players I watched from the stands and cheered on. I couldn't have imagined it. We lost our minds when the draw was made."
Zmijak is only one of two PSG Ultras on Pays de Cassel's payroll, as midfielder Clement Boudjema is also reported to be an Ultra.
