Omala was replaced by Llyod Kavuchi in the 73rd minute after suffering an injury.
Red-hot Benson Omala was stretchered off with an injury in Gor Mahia’s 1-0 win over Bidco United with head coach Johnathan McKinstry providing a positive injury update.
George Blackberry Odhiambo and John Ochieng also missed the match with the tactician revealing that the duo were carrying injuries and could not have been risked in the game against Bidco.
Omala has been crucial to Gor Mahia this season after netting the sole goal in the win over the Thika-based side to extend his tally to 19 this campaign with McKinstry confident he will be available for the next match.
“Benson will be ok, I spoke to him when the guys were stretching. It was a sore one that happened but he is feeling ok now. He said it's ok (the injury), we'll see over the next two days but I'm not hugely concerned.
He is a tough kid, he has shown that this season, we'll assess him and I'm sure he will be fine,” said the former Uganda Cranes head coach.
Gor Mahia had a lean matchday squad in the clash against Bidco as they only had seven players on the bench, two less than the permitted nine with injuries ravaging the already thin squad.
McKinstry also provided an injury update on George ‘Blackberry’ Odhiambo and John Ochieng as he was also confident that they would be available for their next clash against KCB.
‘Ochieng was not in the squad, same as George, both of them are carrying little injuries. Some people would put players who are carrying injuries on the bench, but, we felt the risk of putting either of them in would be too much.
There were other guys on the bench who were not 100% fit but we felt we could take the risk whereas with Berry and John we couldn't take the risk but I'm confident they will be available for the KCB game,” added the coach.
