K'Ogalo are scheduled to play two tough league games in four days.
Jonathan McKinstry is unfazed by taxing fixtures inside a crammed schedule as Gor Mahia prepare to face Nzoia Sugar less than 72 hours after an FKF Cup Round of 32 game against Kibera Soccer.
K’Ogalo will travel to Bungoma to face the Sugar Millers in an FKF Premier League clash at Sudi Stadium on Wednesday before returning to the capital to face Bidco United on Saturday.
It is a jam-packed fixture list for the former champions, who want to snatch maximum points and maintain their spot at the top of the league table.
In an interview, McKinstry insisted they are ready to navigate fixtures in the league and the domestic cup up to the end of the season.
“This season, we are so congested with fixtures, and initially, we thought all would end in April, but the original schedule got updated to add the FIFA international Match Calendar. Now we have two games every week, continuing until May.
Going deep in both competitions will take a lot of physical and mental strength from the boys, but we will go out and win every game we play in,” said McKinstry.
In the domestic cup, Gor Mahia will be seeking to continue with a good run against Kakamega Homeboyz when they play in the Last 16 matches just after the upcoming international window.
“It will be a tough away game against Kakamega Homeboyz. Bukhungu is a difficult place to go, we went there and won once this season but winning twice is going to take a huge effort. But we have good quality in our team and will we cross that bridge when time comes,” he added.
After the international break, the record Kenya champions will resume with league matches in April, and McKinstry expects to have Gor players back to camp after Harambee Stars matches against Burundi.
“Straight after the International break the league will resume on March 4 and who knows if we will have our players back immediately from international duty unless those games get moved,” Mckinstry concluded.
Gor Mahia are currently on the top of the league table with 37 points, four points ahead of second-placed Nzoia Sugar.
