Uganda Cranes striker Patrick Kaddu had opened the scoring for the hosts just eleven minutes into the game.

The capacity green army crowd at the Kasarani Stadium went numb when Kakamega Homeboyz scored a 95th winner to seal a 3-2 comeback win over title-chasing Gor Mahia on Wednesday afternoon.

Uganda Cranes striker Patrick Kaddu had opened the scoring for the hosts just eleven minutes into the game.

A win for K’Ogalo would have earned them the title after Tusker faltered, drawing with Posta Rangers, 1-1.

However, Jonathan McKinstry hasn’t lost hope with one round of games to go, stating that his side can still win their game and claim the title.

“We were a bit off, the passing wasn’t quite snappy enough, but it’s just important that we get it right against City Stars because the league is in our hands,” McKinstry said in the post-match press conference.

“We know that if we win on Sunday, then we are champions; it’s a cup final for us; we either win and get it (trophy) or miss out.”

The loss keeps Gor Mahia on top of the log on 67 points, one ahead of Tusker.

Jonathan McKinstry is chasing his first silverware at the club, and it would be a record extending 20th league title for K’Ogalo and their first since the 2019/20 season.

Both Gor Mahia and Tusker FC will play their final games away, with City Stars hosting K’Ogalo while the Brewers will face Vihiga Bullets FC.
