The transfer embargo that had hindered transfer activities for Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia has been lifted by FIFA.
The club's diligent efforts to clear pending dues owed to their former players have paved the way for this positive outcome, ensuring the squad can now finalize their ongoing transfer dealings.

"We have made all the payments and we are awaiting the communication from FIFA. So far, we have not received it but we are confident that it will come soon,” shared a hopeful Gor Mahia CEO, Raymond Oruo.
Though the official green light from FIFA is still pending, sources suggest the world football governing body has already relayed the message to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), which is expected to update Gor Mahia shortly.
Last month, K’Ogalo experienced a setback when they were ejected from the CAF Champions League. The club's delay in settling payments to former players Ulimwengu, Sando Yangayay, and Adama Keita played a role in this disappointment.
Even though the debts were later cleared, the timing missed the stipulated deadline, costing them a coveted spot in continental football.
Under the guidance of Johnathan McKinstry, the team has been gearing up for the forthcoming season in Thika.
New signings, including Kevin Omondi, Rooney Onyango, Alvin Ochieng, Kennedy Onyango, Kevin Juma, and Lawrence Juma, have been actively training, eagerly anticipating the official nod to get registered and start the competition.
The club's primary focus now shifts to defending their title. Their campaign kickstarts with a highly anticipated clash against Sofapaka on Saturday, August 26.
However, before this fixture, the 20-time Kenyan champions have a date with FKF Cup winners, Kakamega Homeboyz, in the FKF Charity Shield at Kasarani Stadium.
It's worth noting that this isn't Gor Mahia's first encounter with transfer restrictions.
In 2021, the club faced a similar ban for playing newly-signed players, including Yangayay, Dennis Ng’ang’a, and Peter Lwasa, against Tusker FC without clearing outstanding debts to former players Shafiq Batambuze, Dickson Ambundo, and then-coach Steve Polack.
