Michael Olunga has taken time to celebrate his latest exploits with fine dining served by iconic Japanese chef.

Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga has taken time to celebrate his fine form, equalling his goal tally from last season over the weekend.

The former Gor Mahia striker, currently playing for Qatari side Al Duhail, found the net in his team’s 2-0 victory over Al-Wakrah on Friday at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium.

Following his latest footballing exploits, Olunga took time off to indulge in a different kind of mastery—fine dining.

He visited renowned Japanese celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa at his restaurant, Nobu Doha, and later shared the experience on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

“It was an honor to dine with one of the best chefs in the world. It reminded me of Japanese cuisine. Of course, eel was part of the meal,” wrote Olunga.

Matsuhisa is a globally acclaimed chef famous for his innovative fusion of traditional Japanese dishes with Peruvian ingredients.

His restaurants, under the ‘Nobu’ brand, span multiple countries, offering high-end dining experiences to food enthusiasts worldwide.

Olunga particularly visited his branch in Doha named Jobu Doha

On the pitch, Olunga’s goal against Al-Wakrah not only sealed three points for Al Duhail but also saw him reach nine goals for the season, matching his tally from the 2023/24 campaign.

Last season, this total placed him fifth in the top scorers’ charts, and he currently remains in the same position.

The race for the golden boot remains intense, with Baghdad Bounedjah of Al-Shamal leading the pack, having already equaled his last season’s impressive 14-goal tally.

Olunga’s contributions have been pivotal in keeping Al Duhail at the summit of the Qatari Stars League.

The club currently sits on 35 points from 15 matches, holding a four-point lead over second-placed Al Sadd, the reigning champions.

The two giants are set to clash in a highly anticipated top-of-the-table encounter on February 22, a match that could significantly impact the title race.

With his scoring touch returning and off-the-field adventures providing some well-earned relaxation, Olunga looks poised to continue leading from the front.
