Premier League legend Michael Owen has discussed the priority areas for Ruben Amorim as Manchester United boss.
Former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker Michael Owen has pinpointed central defence as a critical area for new boss Ruben Amorim to focus on.
Amorim takes the reins on November 11, replacing Erik ten Hag.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Owen emphasized the importance of a solid backline, particularly given Amorim's preferred 3-4-3 formation.
"I think central defence is an important position for Ruben Amorim, as his system typically features a central defender who ventures into midfield.
"De Ligt and Martinez either side are aggressive defenders, they like being up against strikers, so that middle player has got to be good on the ball and Yoro fits the bill."
Owen believes this trio would be Amorim's preferred choice, provided everyone is fit.
"I think if everyone is fit, that's the back-three he would pick."
Amorim's first game in charge is the trip to Ipswich on November 24.
