FOOTBALL Cranes friendly was a perfect test for Villa
SC Villa are high in gear for the forthcoming season and took on Uganda Cranes in a preseason friendly match at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, on Wednesday.
“Solution be to resurrect Majidu Musisi maybe, but the solution doesn’t exist,” Micho lamented in a post-game interview.
To bolster the forward line, the Cranes head coach summoned Maroons FC forward Fred Amaku, who featured in the friendly, but it’s unclear if he will make the final 25-man squad to face Niger having scored 10 league goals last season.
The Uganda Cranes have struggled with finding a consistent goal scorer on the net in the past decade; in the 2023 AFCON campaign, Micho’s charges have scored only thrice in five match days.

Milton Karisa, Mato Rogers and Fahad Bayo are the scorers for Uganda’s three goals in the qualifiers.
Uganda joins sides like Libya (1), Madagascar (1), Lesotho (1) and Malawi (2) as the lowest-scoring side in the qualification campaign.
The news of captain Emmanuel Okwii being doubtful for the crucial AFCON qualifier makes it even harder for the technical team, who have to look further for another forward.

Uganda must beat Niger and hope Algeria defeats Tanzania by at least 2-0 to stand a chance of qualifying. The game will take place on September 7th at the Grand Stadium of Marrakesh in Morocco.
