Barcelona are reportedly set to miss one of their key players of the season in the midweek Champions League clash against Monaco.

Barcelona have been hit with another negative injury news, as midfielder Dani Olmo is set to miss the midweek Champions League against Monaco after sustaining a niggle in the 4-1 thumping of Girona

Olmo was Barcelona's marquee signing of the summer and he has taken to life at the club like fish to water. They struggled to register him, but after they did, he immediately slotted into Hansi Flick's system

He has scored in each of the three games he has played for the club, the latest coming earlier in the day against Girona. The Spain international scored the third goal of the game, but had to be substituted around the hour mark after he felt some discomfort.

Olmo ruled out of Monaco match

The decision to take off Olmo was initially thought to be tactical before the former Dinamo Zagreb midfielder was seen clutching his knee on the bench.

Speaking after the game, the Barcelona head coach, Hansi Flick, confirmed that the €60 million signing felt some discomfort but said more tests were required to determine the severity of his situation.

“Dani Olmo? We will wait until tomorrow. It seems that there is something but we will have to wait until tomorrow,” Flick said.

Tonight, however, Catalan publication AS reported that the 26-year-old was suffering from an overload in his hamstring and will be out for 7-10 days, effectively ruling him out for the Champions League clash against Monaco on Thursday. He could also miss the LALIGA game against Villarreal this weekend.
