DR Congo giants TP Mazembe remain without a win after four matches in the CAF Champions Leagues

DR Congo giants TP Mazembe faced another setback in the CAF Champions League, failing to secure a win after suffering a 3-1 defeat against Young Africans.

The match, held at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, was Mazembe's fourth consecutive match without a victory in the competition.

Despite coach Lamine Ndiaye's pre-match confidence, where he emphasised the team's preparations and lessons learned from their previous encounter against Young Africans, the outcome was disappointing.

"We are prepared to play against Young Africans... Tomorrow(today) is another game, an important game but not a decisive game," Ndiaye had stated, expressing his belief in a potential victory, according to a CAF report.

Mazembe began the match positively, taking the lead with a penalty converted by Alioune Badara Faty in the 16th minute.

However, their advantage was short-lived as Young Africans quickly responded with a powerful performance.

Young Africans proved too good for TP Mazembe.

Clement Mzize emerged as the standout player, scoring two goals, including a spectacular long-range effort that turned the tide in favour of the home side.

This victory was crucial for Young Africans, marking their first win in four matches of the group stage, while TP Mazembe remain at the bottom of the table with no wins and only two points from four matches.

The team's inability to capitalise on early leads and their defensive lapses have raised concerns about their prospects in this year's competition.

TP Mazembe will need to regroup and address their shortcomings if they hope to turn their fading hopes around with just two matches left to play.
