SC Villa assistant coach Morley Byekwaso has been named as Uganda Cranes' interim head coach ahead of the FIFA international Break.
Byekwaso will be assisted by URA FC's interim head coach Fred Muhumuza, Stephen Billy Kiggundu as the interim goalkeeping and Felix Ayobo as the interim fitness coach
According to the FUFA website, the named a Technical Team of four people for an interim period of one month running from 3rd -31st October 2023.
Byekwaso a former Cranes international, and his team will take charge of Uganda Cranes during the International break this month where the team will play two games against Mali on 13th October in Bamako and Zambia in Dubai, UAE on 17th October 2023.
The interim technical team will also name the Uganda Cranes squad for the two international games today.

Apart from Micho’s replacement, the federation is also looking for an assistant coach, goalkeeping trainer as well as a Strength and Conditioning coach.
The Uganda Cranes coach job fell vacant in September 2023 when Serbian Milutin Sredojević alias Micho and FUFA decided to part ways; this was after the former failed to guide to the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Byekwaso a former KCCA FC player and coach, is no stranger to coaching at the big stage he guided Uganda to the final of the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Mauritania before falling to Ghana in the final.
Then, Uganda, Ghana, Tunisia and Gambia qualified for the 2021 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia as the CAF representatives.
However, FIFA decided to cancel the tournament on 24 December 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic
