Nantes fans show frustration during Le Havre loss
The incident occurred during stoppage time of Nantes’ match against Le Havre, with fans expressing their dissatisfaction after a fourth consecutive league defeat left Nantes teetering in 16th place, a relegation playoff spot.
Riot police were deployed to halt the attempted pitch invasion and control the crowd after projectiles were thrown onto the field.
The match was interrupted for over 30 minutes as officials worked to restore order, and once the stands were mostly cleared, the final minutes of the game were played out.
Goals from Josue Casimir in the third minute and Steve Ngoura in the 74th sealed a comfortable victory for Le Havre, deepening the crisis for Nantes.
Moses Simon shines despite team struggles
Amid Nantes’ dismal season, Simon has been a rare bright spot. Returning from a significant injury, the Super Eagles star has delivered standout performances.
The Nigerian winger has contributed three goals and four assists in 11 matches for Nantes in Ligue 1 this season.
Remarkably, Simon has been involved in half of Nantes’ 14 league goals this campaign, and is arguably the most important player in the team at the moment.
Simon’s form has also translated to the national team, where he has provided three assists in five games for the Super Eagles despite not being a regular starter.
