Super Eagles legend Sunday Oliseh has named two Newcastle United players who stood out to him during Tuesday’s match against Arsenal.

Arsenal are on the verge of being knocked out of the Carabao Cup after losing the first-leg clash of the semifinal to Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners were defeated 2-0 on the night, marking their first loss at the Emirates Stadium since last season's loss to Aston Villa.

Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon's goals on either side of halftime gave the Magpies a significant boost in their quest to advance to the Carabao Cup final.

Oliseh’s remark on Newcastle players

After the match, Oliseh gave two players high marks, emphasising that they are some of the Premier League's most underappreciated performers.

He said on X, "Sad day for Arsenal fans losing out to Newcastle, but I strongly feel these two players, Isak and Gordon of Newcastle, are arguably the most exciting duo and slightly of the Premier League this season.

"Just love the variety they bring each game and Isak is currently my favourite player of the Premier League. What a bunch of talent!."

Isak has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season and has been instrumental in Newcastle’s form.

The striker has scored 15 goals and provided four assists in all competitions for Newcastle this season.

The 24-year-old is now third on the highest goal scorer list in the Premier League this season, five goals behind Mohamed Salah.
