The Portuguese manager is building a formidable side an Fenerbahce and wants to add the former Manchester United star
Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, who was recently appointed manager of Turkish Super League club Fenerbahce, has set his sights on former Red Devils loanee Sofyan Amrabat.
The Moroccan international midfielder, who had a mixed loan spell at Old Trafford, is now a key target for Mourinho as he looks to strengthen his squad for the upcoming season.
Mourinho's eyes move for Amrabat
Following his exit from AS Roma, Mourinho has wasted no time in making bold moves in the transfer market since taking over at Fenerbahce with the Turkish club already signing eight players this summer.
Mourinho was reportedly impressed by the Moroccan’s performances in midfield for Manchester United and Fiorentina and believes that Amrabat could be vital for Fenerbahce as they aim to challenge for domestic and European honours.
The big question remains whether Fiorentina would be willing to part ways with Sofyan Amrabat as the Italian club will likely ask for a substantial fee for the 27-year-old midfielder, given the interest he has garnered from top clubs.
Manchester United still interested in Amrabat
While Mourinho is keen to bring Amrabat to Fenerbahce, Manchester United are also considering re-signing the midfielder. According to reports, the Premier League club sees Amrabat as a viable alternative if their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte does not materialise.
The Uruguayan international is a prime target for United as they seek to bolster their midfield options, but PSG's high asking price and a potential loan deal have complicated negotiations.
If Manchester United fail to secure Ugarte, they may turn their attention back to Amrabat, who is reportedly giving priority to a return to Old Trafford despite interest from other European clubs.
