Ali's famous fight-worn Everlast boxing trunks from the historic 'Thrilla in Manila' are on the auction block at Sotheby's with an estimated price range of $4-6 million. With the current high bid at $3.8 million, the auction is set to conclude on April 12, according to Bleacher Report.

Historic Rivalry and Fight Background

The 'Thrilla in Manila' marked the peak of the longstanding rivalry between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. After their initial meeting in 1971, known as the 'Fight of the Century,' where Frazier claimed victory, Ali emerged triumphant in the 1974 'Rumble in the Jungle.'

The stage was then set for the third and final showdown in Manila in 1975, with Ali's heavyweight championship at stake.

Intense Buildup and Memorable Fight

Leading up to the 'Thrilla in Manila,' Ali engaged in relentless verbal sparring with Frazier, intensifying the animosity between the two fighters. The tension spilled over into the ring, with Frazier displaying his anger through powerful punches.

Despite Frazier's initial dominance, Ali showcased his resilience and ultimately turned the tide, leading to Frazier's corner throwing in the towel after the 14th round in what is considered one of the greatest fights in boxing history.
