Muhoroni Youth are negotiating a contract renewal with key Ugandan goalkeeper Michael Kagiri amidst speculation about his professional future.

Troubled Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Muhoroni Youth are intensively working behind the scenes to secure a key player's future at the club.

In the midst of challenging times, the club has entered into crucial negotiations with their star Ugandan goalkeeper, Michael Kagiri, whose contract lapsed two weeks ago.

The renewal talks with Kagiri have resumed amid widespread speculation about the goalkeeper's next move.

Various reports have linked Kagiri to a potential switch to Bandari FC, stirring the rumor mill in the football community.

Despite these speculations, the player expressed optimism about ongoing discussions with the club.

In an exclusive interview with Pulse Sports, player revealed, “We are in the process of renewing the contract. We are still negotiating, so we will see what will happen."

Kagiri's journey with Muhoroni Youth began in August 2023 when he signed a six-month contract.

During his tenure, he has been a formidable presence on the field, starting five matches, securing three clean sheets, and conceding just two goals.

Kagiri first gained attention in the Buganda Masaza Cup with Buwekula Ssaza in 2016, where he played a pivotal role in winning the Luwangula Cup.

His talent was undeniable, leading him to join Lweza Football Club for the 2017 season in the Uganda Premier League.

His journey then took him to AS Nyuki in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) before his stint with Kitara Football Club in the 2022-2023 season, where he helped the team ascend to the top flight.

Muhoroni Youth, currently holding the 12th position in the FKF Premier League table with 18 points and four wins, sees Kagiri as a critical component in their team structure.

His previous season with Kitara Football Club was marked by a significant achievement as they were promoted to the Uganda top flight.

Kagiri's goalkeeping skills are multifaceted, showcasing excellent organization, game reading, and leadership from behind the posts.

He is notably adept at handling aerial balls and consistently thwarts one-on-one situations.

His penalty-saving expertise, both in regular matches and post-match shootouts, has been a highlight of his career.
