Mukwala was nothing short of phenomenal. Ending the season as the club's top scorer, he netted 13 goals in 35 matches, 11 of which came in the Ghana Premier League.

After an enthralling debut season, Steven Mukwala, is buzzing with optimism and has big promises for Asante Kotoko's forthcoming campaign.

Last season might have been a mixed bag for the Kumasi giants, but Mukwala's confidence speaks of brighter days ahead, especially with the return of coach Prosper Ogum.

University of Cape Coast lecturer, Prosper Ogum, who has made a comeback following the establishment of a new Interim Management Committee helmed by ex-Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah, is someone Mukwala is eagerly looking forward to working with.

Sharing his enthusiasm, the striker revealed to Asante Kotoko TV, "I am super excited to join my colleagues...we are motivated and with the new coach we shall be hitting the best."

His commitment to the Porcupine Warriors isn't just lip service. In his inaugural season, Mukwala was nothing short of phenomenal.

Ending the season as the club's top scorer, he netted 13 goals in 35 matches, 11 of which came in the Ghana Premier League.

Additionally, his contribution extended to the continental level as he tallied two goals in the CAF Confederation Cup, further assisting five times throughout the 2022/23 season.

However, while Mukwala's individual brilliance was a silver lining, Kotoko, as a unit, had a challenging season.

The club concluded in the fourth position, trailing by eight points from the table leaders, Medeama. Making Mukwala's optimism and faith in the renewed setup even more crucial.

The revamped environment under the watchful eyes of Ogum and the technical director Appiah is palpable.

Players are not just turning up; they're putting in the hard yards in training, a testament to the electric atmosphere within the team as they gear up for their opener against Heart of Lions.

Mukwala is stepping into the final year of his contract, but if his performance and the club's renewed vigour are anything to go by, it wouldn't be surprising if Kotoko exercises the option to extend his stay.

In a bid to recapture their dominance, the club hasn't rested on its laurels. The signings of talents like Andrews Ntim, Nanabayin Amoah, and Yahaya Dawuni are bound to fortify the squad further.

The Kumasi giants continue preparations to face Heart of Lions in their Ghana Premier League opener at the Baba Yara Stadium on September 16, 2023.
