The Kariobangi Sharks' captain completed a full match in a Premier League match for the first time since December during their 2-1 win over Slum Derby rivals, Mathare United.
Kariobangi Sharks head coach William Muluya believes that the return of his captain Luke Otiala is a welcome boost as his side attempts to correct its porous backline.
Although Sharks are the most prolific side in the division, scoring 43 goals, they have conceded 40, making them the joint third-worst defence in the division alongside Ken Kenyatta’s FC Talanta.
It has not been plain sailing for Otiala, who has suffered multiple injuries since signing for the club from St. Joseph’s youth.

FKFPL Kariobangi Sharks boss Muluya admits to defensive frailties
Sharks find themselves languishing in 15th place for goals conceded, having let in 33 goals after 23 games.
“The captain is back which is a huge relief for us,” he said, “before getting injured, we had conceded just five goals while he was in the team,” he added.
“Without him, we have conceded 35 goals which has not been a big help. We were missing his defensive skill sets and most importantly, his leadership at the back.
