Will Mutyaba impress the coaches at Dundee United and secure a permanent contract? Only time will tell, but his track record suggests that the Scottish Premiership could very well be his next playground.

The Scottish city of Dundee has opened its arms to another potential Ugandan football sensation, Travis Mutyaba.

Pulse Sports understands that Mutyaba travelled to Scotland on Thursday to commence an undisclosed period of trials with Dundee United, a top-tier Scottish club.

This milestone marks a significant phase in Mutyaba's burgeoning career and could serve as a gateway to European football stardom for this prodigious talent.

Mutyaba shot to prominence through his impressive performances with the Vipers SC junior team and later making his senior debut with SC Villa in the 2023/22 season.

The trial was orchestrated by the team behind the Fundi Project, which has a history of connecting Ugandan talent with opportunities abroad.

The Fundi Project was instrumental in securing Ugandan striker Sadat Anaku a spot at Dundee, with defender Enoch Walusimbi also had a trial stint with the club.

Anaku initially joined the Scottish club on a trial basis, impressing the coaching staff and eventually landing a two-year contract.

He has made 14 league appearances in the 2023/24 season, although he is yet to find the back of the net.

Mutyaba's Scotland venture comes after a major professional shift. The midfielder parted ways with his previous agent, Eugene Ssepuya, following a series of dramatic episodes that nearly saw him exiting SC Villa.

Ssepuya had advised Mutyaba not to return to the club last season, erroneously promising a move to a top European team that never came to pass.

Furthermore, Ssepuya embroiled the young player in a deceitful scheme to extract school fees from a UK-based football agent, despite Mutyaba already having a scholarship.

On the field, Mutyaba is known for his versatility. Primarily an advanced playmaker, he can also take on the roles of a right winger or a wide playmaker.

He possesses superb agility, flair, and a low center of gravity, which together with his excellent ball technique, make him a dynamic presence on the field.

His playing style is highly vertical, often acting as the lynchpin to drive his team from midfield to striking positions.

Mutyaba isn’t new to accolades. He was crowned the winner of the 2019 CECAFA U15 Championship and the 2020 CECAFA U17 Championship with Uganda. In the latter, he also snagged the Best Player Award.

These triumphs have paved the way for him to represent his country in various tournaments, including the 2023 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) and the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

He has also made his senior debut with the Uganda Cranes, a significant milestone in any player's career.
