Nairobi City Stars coach Nicholas Muyoti is delighted by the fact that despite his players' young age and having been plucked from lower divisions, they are challenging for the title
Nairobi City Stars coach Nicholas Muyoti has heaped praise on his young players for managing to help the side surpass expectations in the ongoing FKFPL season.
City Stars are second on 33 points, seven behind leaders Gor Mahia after 18 games, and will be beginning to fancy their chances at claiming their hands on the league title by the end of the season.
Speaking to Pulse Sports, Muyoti was particular in heaping praise on Robinson Asenwa, a player who has stepped up to the plate by leading the line enormously not just with his goals, but also assists since signing from Division One side Vipers FC last August.
“I think it is about building their confidence,” Muyoti said.

Revealed: Issues Harambee Stars prospect must address to succeed in 3rd loan spell from Tottenham
The Kenyan right wing back signed for Tottenham in 2022 but has already been loaned out to three different clubs in less than two years.
“These are good players, from where they came from, the lower leagues, we have very good players.
“I think they were very good players in those leagues, that is why we were able to spot them and coming into the Premier League, it was just a matter of getting their confidence to where it is supposed to be.
“I think I am happy for Asenwa. It has not been immediate. I think he is coming to the fore slowly and until now, you can see his performance.”
Last season’s 12-goal sensation Kevin Etemesi has missed the last couple of games through illness but there is optimism that he will return to his best as soon as possible and recapture his best form.

FOOTBALL Richard Odada upbeat about Kenya's chances in AFCON and World Cup qualifiers
Odada believes that the games they played in 2023 allowed them to rebuild well for the challenge this year.
Further, Ouma also attributes the team’s upward trajectory to good coaching.
“We are giving out positive results due to our able technical bench led by (Nicholas) Muyoti who has been demanding a lot from us as a team,” added Ouma.
“That push has brought about massive difference results-wise compared to last season."
