SUPL Mwebaze optimistic of extending strong run as Bright Stars visit Wakiso Giants

Soltilo Bright Stars are enjoying a decent run of results as they have picked three StarTimes Uganda Premier League victories in the last five games without a single defeat.

They picked huge wins over Vipers SC, Onduparaka FC, and Busoga United, and, ahead of their next assignment against Wakiso Giants FC on Tuesday at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, head coach Asaph Mwebaze is confident of continuity.

“We come in the game with a run of three wins in the last five games, and we are in better form than Wakiso,” he told the club media on Monday.

“It might be difficult because Wakiso Giants might be motivated by the fact that it is a sort of a derby, but we’re ready, have rectified the mistakes we have been making, and we go into this game as slight favourites,” he added.

Wakiso Giants won the previous meeting in the first round, 2-0 at Kavumba, courtesy of goals from Lawrence Bukenya and Sharif Kimbowa.

But, Mwebaze feels a lot has changed since then and that his boys should be good to go for revenge and maximum points.

At the time, the Purple Sharks were in contention for the title but currently languish in the ninth position with just 33 points.

“We are thinking we are going to pick the three points, and the boys are geared up and fired up.”

Pending results from other games, a Bright Stars victory could take them up to fourth from the current seventh place where they sit with 35 points.
