Na Collabo: Nigerian champions Rangers seal talent exchange partnership with Swiss club

Enugu Rangers and Schaffhausen have put pen to paper on an agreement that will see both clubs mutually benefit from their respective know-hows.

In an exciting development for the NPFL, Swiss club FC Schaffhausen have announced a partnership with Nigeria's top club, Enugu Rangers International F.C.

This collaboration aims to establish a framework for sporting and strategic cooperation, focusing on talent exchange and mutual development.

A representative from FC Schaffhausen, Mr. Jimmy Berisha, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “I am very happy. We are looking forward to sporting and strategic cooperation."

We are looking to welcome in the future Nigerian players from Enugu Rangers, and also to see coaches here so they can benefit from our skills, know-how, and of course, we can benefit from their resources. I think that’s the main point.”

This commitment highlights the intent to create a robust pipeline for Nigerian talent to transition into European football.

On his part, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, the CEO of Enugu Rangers, emphasised the strategic importance of this collaboration.

He noted that the partnership aligns with Rangers' long-term goals in conjunction with the Enugu State government.

“For us, we look at our strategic plan that Rangers and FC Schaffhausen can collaborate to bring the plan to life. That’s why when the Governor saw the initial proposal, he was happy to approve that we conclude this collaboration and agreement.”

Ezeaku also highlighted that this partnership is exclusive to the Swiss region, aiming to provide players from Rangers and Enugu State with exposure to European football culture.

The initiative is expected not only to enhance player development but also to contribute positively to the local economy by improving the state’s GDP.

He added; “It is beautiful that we are welcomed here at Schaffhausen; it creates a beautiful relationship between the Cantone of Schaffhausen, Switzerland, Rangers, and Enugu State as a people.”

The partnership signifies another important step forward for Rangers under the leadership of Ezeaku. FC Schaffhausen hope to leverage their expertise while providing a platform for Nigerian players to gain valuable experience in Europe.

Meanwhile, Enugu Rangers, who are the reigning NPFL champions with eight league titles and five cups in their trophy cabinet, aim to utilise this collaboration as a means of enhancing their players' skills and marketability on an international level.
