Turkey was the place to be at the weekend for Naija Stars Abroad, with Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen leading the way.
Naija Stars Abroad kicks off 2025 with a quiet weekend across Europe, with Victor Osimhen and the overlooked David Okereke the standout players.
Both based in Turkey opened their accounts for the weekend but only Super Eagles superstar Osimhen’s goal helped his club take all three points in their encounter.

Naija Stars Abroad: Towering 24-year-old pulls away from Super Eagles stars Osimhen and Lookman
It was the return of the big boys on Naija Stars Abroad led by Super Eagles superstars Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, but they remain behind an in-form striker.
The 26-year-old was in fine form as Galatasaray extended their lead at the top of the Super Lig following a 2-1 win at home to Goztepe on Saturday.
After partying in Nigeria during his Christmas holiday, Osimhen returned to get the year off to the perfect start for the Lions, scoring the opener against Goztepe from 12 yards out.
Keeping his cool, the man from Napoli converted expertly his 10th league goal of the season in just 12 appearances and celebrated by dedicating it to Tony Elumelu’s billionaire twins.
Not to be outshone, another Nigerian star in the Super Lig, Okereke, proved why former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho rates him highly.
Okereke, 27, helped his modest outfit Gaziantep FK to share the spoils away from home with a lovely goal at Kenneth Omeruo-less Kasimpasa.
David’s goal restored parity after Da Costa’s seventh-minute opener for the home side before he put them ahead again just before the break.
With the goal from their Nigerian star, Gaziantep returned with hope and were rewarded with a late equaliser and a point to take home.
The Nigerian striker has now scored four goals and assisted two in 12 matches this season for the club.
Other Naija Stars Abroad
With some leagues still on break, the Premier League was the other league to feature Nigerians and Super Eagles stars.
Playmaker Alex Iwobi and his friend Calvin Bassey were in action as Fulham were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Ipswich Town.
Both Super Eagles stars put up a good show, with Bassey, who committed an error that led to one of the goals after a poor clearance, playing from start to finish while Iwobi lasted just over an hour.
