This weekend’s Naija Stars Abroad edition delivered another exciting roundup of Nigerian football talent shining across Europe and beyond.

Osimhen, fresh off his sensational brace in the Turkish Cup, had no Super Lig action to showcase this weekend as Galatasaray took a break from league duties.

In his absence, the Naija Stars Abroad focus shifted elsewhere, with plenty of Super Eagles stars stepping up.

In Italy’s Serie A, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru proved decisive for Lazio, delivering the assist for the only goal in a victory over Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta.

Lookman, Africa’s finest, couldn’t inspire a comeback, leaving Dele-Bashiru to claim bragging rights.

Elsewhere in Serie A, Samuel Chukwueze made a brief 10-minute cameo as a late substitute in AC Milan’s entertaining 2-2 draw against Fiorentina.

Over in the Premier League, Alex Iwobi emerged as one of the weekend’s brightest Naija Stars Abroad.

The Fulham midfielder produced a goal-and-assist masterclass in a thrilling 3-2 upset against league leaders Liverpool.

Iwobi’s eighth Premier League goal of the season, coupled with an assist for the winner, underlined his stellar form.

Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi.

Teammate Calvin Bassey also impressed in the victory. Iwobi’s milestone performance saw him become the first Nigerian to reach 30+ goals and 30+ assists in Premier League history (34G, 30A)—a remarkable feat for the Super Eagles star.

It wasn’t all joy for Nigerian stars in England, though. Southampton, featuring Super Eagles duo Joe Aribo and Paul Onuachu, became the fastest team relegated from the Premier League with seven games remaining.

Their 3-1 loss to Tottenham sealed a dismal fate for the south coast side, with Aribo starting while Onuachu came on as a sub.

In the Championship, Kelechi Iheanacho continued his fine form for Middlesbrough.

Kelechi Iheanacho got off the mark for Boro in the previous match.

Following his first goal for the club last time out, the forward provided two assists in an away win against Blackburn, cementing his place among this weekend’s top Naija Stars Abroad performers.

Across Europe, other Nigerian talents made their mark. In Spain, Chrisantus Uche, back from suspension, starred with two assists in Getafe’s emphatic away victory, while Umar Sadiq played a role in Valencia’s shock win over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

Chrisantus Uche returned with a bang.

However, Chidera Ejuke could only come from the bench as Sevilla fell 2-1 to Atletico Madrid at home.

Moses Simon kept up his reputation as an assist king in France, notching his ninth of the season in Ligue 1 for Nantes.

In Italy, Maduka Okoye’s heroics between the sticks for Udinese weren’t enough to avoid defeat. The Super Eagles goalkeeper made six saves but couldn’t prevent a loss away to Genoa.

In Germany, Victor Boniface endured another goalless outing as Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen narrowly escaped an upset against Heidenheim.

Boniface was on the pitch for 64 minutes.

Finally, Saviour Godwin rounded off the Naija Stars Abroad highlights with a crucial goal in the Saudi Pro League, securing an away win for his side.

From Iwobi’s historic milestone to Iheanacho and Uche’s creative flair, Nigerian stars continue to light up leagues abroad. Stay tuned for more Naija Stars Abroad action next week!
