Nairobi City Stars have clarified the position of coach Nicholas Muyoti who is reportedly close to joining struggling FKF Premier League rivals Shabana

Nairobi City Stars have admitted that they could lose head coach Nicholas Muyoti who is reported to have agreed to join Shabana FC.

Muyoti is currently enjoying a fine run with City Stars who sit second on the FKF Premier League table following their 3-0 thrashing of FC Talanta on Saturday.

The win was Simba wa Nairobi’s sixth straight victory, a record for the club, that leaves them on 30 points from 17 matches, seven behind league leaders Gor Mahia.

However, it appears that might have been the final match for Muyoti in charge of the club as he has been reported to have accepted the approach of Shabana, who are currently struggling in the league.

“There has been an approach on him by a few teams and he has informed us,” City Stars CEO Patrick Korir told Pulse Sports. “This is what happens when you are doing well.”

“He is under contract until the end of the season and so we have to sit down and do things the right way. We will have a discussion with him on Monday and sort out everything,” he added.

Muyoti joined City Stars in September 2021 and led them to an impressive fifth-place finish before a tough run last season that saw them escape relegation in the final weeks of the campaign to finish 15th.

The club kept faith in him and after addressing some of their weaknesses, he has them flying currently and remain the form team of the league after their six wins on the bounce and have also scored the most goals in the division (25).

That seems to have attracted Shabana who have been without a coach since sacking Samny Okoth last November.

Okoth’s sacking did little to change the situation as Tore Bobe have continued to struggle and their pain extended on Saturday when they lost 1-0 at home to Muhoroni Youth to leave them 16th on the table on 14 points, one more than bottom-placed Nzoia Sugar.
