Simba wa Nairobi lauded Kelvin Etemesi's brilliance as the top scorer who shines in thrilling victories, earning him a well-deserved spotlight.

Nairobi City Stars striker Kelvin Etemesi has earned praise and accolades for his consistent outstanding performances in the 2023-24 FKF Premier League season.

The talented forward, who is currently the top scorer for City Stars, found himself in the limelight after securing a spot in the coveted Team of the Week for match day five.

His remarkable contributions unfolded during a thrilling encounter on Saturday, where Etemesi not only netted a crucial goal but also provided an assist, propelling Simba wa Nairobi to a resounding 2-1 victory over Sofapaka at the Kasarani Annex.

The electrifying performance rightfully earned him the title of Man of the Match, setting the stage for his inclusion in the esteemed Team of the Week.

In the previous weekend's fixture, he played a pivotal role in City Stars' come-from-behind triumph against Nzoia Sugar FC, contributing both a goal and earning a penalty.

The penalty was expertly converted by Rowland Makati, securing a 2-1 victory for City Stars in Ruaraka. Makati, who scored the decisive goal in that match, also found himself in the Team of the Week for match day four.

Reflecting on the remarkable performances of the young players, City Stars' team coordinator, Samson Otieno, expressed his satisfaction.

"It is very encouraging to see our young players making a statement and making a difference in the team. It’s no mean feat to be ranked amongst the best in the league after a match day. Only returns that earn a team points can get you there. Kudos to Makati and Etemesi," he commended.

The acknowledgment of Etemesi's excellence extended beyond his Team of the Week inclusion as he also earned a well-deserved nomination for the Player of the Week.

Joining Etemesi in the Team of the Week for match day five are other standout performers, including Wilson Kamau of Murang’a Seal and Clinton Kinanga of Kenya Police FC.

The midfield boasts talents like Shabana’s Peter Ogechi, Apollo Oyugi of KCB, and Rodgers Mugisha of Gor Mahia. The defensive lineup comprises Baraka Bandi of Kenya Police FC, Brian Eshihanda of Kakamega Homeboyz, Kenedy Odhiambo of Posta Rangers, and Clinton Bulimo of Muhoroni Youth. Farouk Shikalo of Kakamega Homeboyz is the goalkeeper completing the formidable lineup.
