The experienced Premier League-winning midfielder is without a club after leaving Azam FC.

After leaving Tanzanian Mainland Premier League side Azam FC, Kenneth Muguna has posted a cryptic message ahead of landing in Nairobi.

The former Gor Mahia midfielder left Azam after being part of their set-up since July 2021. He was a key figure for K’Ogalo before he joined the 2016 Tanzanian champions, but failed to claim a regular starting slot with the Chamazi-based club.

Even when Azam played – and lost to Yanga in the Federation Cup – Muguna was not in the matchday squad, indicating just how far down the pecking order he had fallen.

So far, he has not been linked with any club, but given his experience and, of course, his winning credentials, especially at the time he was with Gor Mahia, he is not going to be without suitors.

Should the former Western Stima star decide to rejoin Gor Mahia, it would be the second time he has returned to the former Premier League champions after signing for a foreign club.

In 2018, he signed for Albanian side KF Tirana, but after failing to settle, he came back and joined K’Ogalo. He went on to become an influential figure and was appointed captain before he decided to embrace a foreign challenge again when he signed for Azam.

After parting ways with Azam, Muguna is expected to return to Nairobi and took to Facebook to tease his fans with a cryptic message.

"Apo Nairobi wanasemaje? (What are people saying in Nairobi) See you in a few," posted Muguna on Facebook.

Muguna’s exit comes at a time when there are numerous rumours that Joash Onyango is on his way out of Simba SC.

Onyango is rumoured to be among several players who will leave the Kariakoo-based giants, who are expected to rebuild after failing to win the league for the second straight season.

Wekundu wa Msimbazi are expected to bring in fresh blood in order to challenge their arch-rivals Yanga and challenge for the continental titles.

Onyango has been linked with a move back to Gor Mahia and Singida Big Stars. He and Muguna were teammates at the Kenyan giants before they decided to join the Tanzanian clubs in search of greener pastures and more titles.

In a recent interview with Simba, Joash, however, quashed rumours that he could be headed out of Simba.
