Frosinone pulled off an incredible shock with a 4-0 drubbing to knock Napoli out of Coppa Italia.
Napoli have been knocked out of the 2023/24 Coppa Italia in rather embarrassing fashion following a 4-0 defeat at home to Frosinone on Tuesday night.
All four goals were scored in the closing 25 minutes of the game with Enzo Barrenechea, Giuseppe Caso, Walid Cheddira and Abdou Harrouito to stun the Diego Maradona Stadium.
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen didn't start but came on as a substitute for Giovanni Simeone in the 63rd minute just a minute before Frosinone scored the first goal.
Napoli 0-4 Frosinone
Frosinone took the lead in the 65th minute when Enzo Barrenechea was allowed a free header from six yards that looped up into the far top corner.
Things went from bad to worse for Napoli when captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo played a back pass into a blind alley which was intercepted by Caso who scored one-on-one with Pierluigi Gollini.
Napoli continued to search for a way back but their resolve was broken late on when Frosinone got a penalty which was converted in the first minute of added time by Walid Cheddira.
Deep into stoppages, a through ball sent Abdou Harroui running down the centre and he beat Gollini one-on-one. The final whistle was barely audible under the deafening jeers from the crowd.
