If Napoli could go back in time, they would have sold Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia last summer
Napoli’s reluctance to part ways with Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia last summer appears to have cost the club significantly, as their transfer valuations have plummeted.

The Serie A side, which celebrated Scudetto glory in 2023, now faces a substantial financial setback after failed attempts to retain its star players or get the best value for them.
Napoli miss opportunity to cash in on top talent
Reports suggest that Paris Saint-Germain were prepared to pay a staggering €200 million (approximately ₦319 billion) for Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia as a package deal during the 2024 summer transfer window.
However, Napoli chose to delay the sales, hoping to rebuild their team around the two superstars or get a better deal to sell only Osimhen.
The gamble has now spectacularly backfired, as Osimhen, who made clear his intention to leave, was left out of preseason games and ultimately moved to Galatasaray on loan.
Meanwhile, Kvaratskhelia, despite Conte’s attempts to secure his commitment, is reportedly closer to an exit, with PSG now valuing him at just €55 million.
Combined with Osimhen’s reduced price tag of €75 million, Napoli stands to make only €130 million (₦207 billion) from the pair, a loss of €70 million (₦112 billion) compared to the initial summer offer.
Conte regrets transfer decision amidst rumoured exit
Speaking to DAZN, Conte expressed disappointment over his inability to convince Kvaratskhelia to stay, saying, "I take responsibility for my actions.
“Maybe I was a little presumptuous, thinking I could have a stronger impact. It’s a pity because Kvara is a great player, but we have to accept reality."
Napoli’s struggles extend beyond the transfer market. The departure of Luciano Spalletti and a dismal season that saw the club finish 10th in Serie A have compounded their woes.
Without European football to entice players or generate revenue, Napoli finds itself in a precarious position.
For a team that needs reinforcements, potentially losing €70 million further complicates their rebuild and could have dire consequences for the club. Whether they can recover from this setback remains to be seen.
