Former NFF president Amaju Pinnick slammed Napoli for their treatment of Osimhen.

Former Nigeria Football Federation head honcho Amaju Pinnick recently expressed his opinion on the Victor Osimhen transfer saga this summer.

The 25-year-old striker was on top of the world one year ago and was crowned the king in Naples, as he had just led the Partenopei to their first league title since Diego Maradona donned the Napoli blue.

One season later, his relationship with the club had collapsed beyond repair, and after a failed move in the general European transfer window, he moved to Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig on a season-long loan deal.

What Amaju Pinnick said

Speaking on the saga, Pinnick, who was the leading figure in Nigerian football from 2014 to 2022, stated that Napoli did not treat Osimhen fairly, given his achievements at the club.

“I’m not limited to Nigeria; I’m global, so there are things I cannot say. But I can tell you emphatically that Osimhen served Napoli with his heart,” Pinnick said in an interview with Arise News

“Osimhen did what nobody did in 30 years. Osimhen singlehandedly won that league for Napoli after 30 years. Guess what? Osimhen won the African Footballer of the Year; his club did not post it on that day. It was two days after the club posted it. What does that tell you?

“Did they give him a guard of honour for winning the African Player of the Year? There are so many things that I cannot say, but Napoli was not fair to Osimhen.”

Victor Osimhen is raring to do with Galatasaray, as he promised fans of the club they will achieve great things together. Meanwhile, he is currently in Super Eagles camp for the coming AFCON qualifier clashes against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
