The Federal Ministry of Sports and Youth Development has confirmed that the seventh edition of the Youth games is scheduled to be held from February 8 to 18 in Delta state.
The Games will be hosted at Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba, Delta State.
The ministry confirmed this in a statement signed by the Director, Press and Public Relations Mohammed Manga obtained by Pulse sports Nigeria.
He said the Hosting Right was awarded to Delta state at a meeting of Stakeholders for the Games, which was held on the sidelines of the recently concluded 21st National Sports Festival.
He added that the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Alhaji Ismaila Abubakar, revealed that the youth games is for talent hunting.
He further stated that the Game is to promote National Unity and eradicate age cheating in sports.
He assured that the Ministry is poised to ensure that the gains and objectives of the Youth Games are sustained.
According to him, "many of the discovered athletes have been nurtured to elite level by the Ministry where several of them have been excelling at the international stage by posting podium performance for the country.
"Promote National Unity; curb age cheating in Sports and Youth restiveness as well as establish a standard programme for athletes’ succession," he said
