Cooper's five-game winless streak, which included a League Cup loss to Manchester United, led to his dismissal as Leicester sat 16th in the table.

Wilfred Ndidi's Leicester City have dismissed manager Steve Cooper following a disappointing start to the Premier League season.

The Foxes are currently in the relegation zone, just two points above the bottom three.

Cooper, who took over from Enzo Maresca in June, failed to inspire the team, winning only two of his 12 league matches with the final straw came after a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.

A five-game winless streak, which included a League Cup loss to Manchester United, led to his dismissal as Leicester sat 16th in the table.

A statement from the Club confirmed that they have parted ways with the coach and his first assistant will take over.

"Assistant Manager Alan Tate and First Team Coach and Analyst Steve Rands have also left the Club.

"Steve, Alan and Steve depart with our thanks for their contribution during their time with the Club and with our best wishes for the future," the club announced in a statement.

Cooper started his coaching career with the England youth teams before spending two years at Swansea.

The club will now begin the search for a new manager to guide them through the remainder of the season.
