Despite Wilfred Ndidi’s best efforts Arsenal still managed to defeat Leicester City

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi was unable to stop the Gunners from claiming a comfortable 2-0 win over Leicester City.

Despite Ndidi's battling midfield display, Arsenal still got the better of the home side, thanks to an unlikely brace from January signing Mikel Merino.

Merino leads Arsenal past Foxes

After a cagey first half that saw Arsenal struggle to break Leicester City down thanks in major part to Ndidi leading the Foxes' defensive efforts, the Gunners finally found some joy in the latter stages of the match.

After only one shot on target in the opening half. the Gunners upped their game in the second period with four shots that tested Leicester City's Mads Hermansen.

Two of those shots found the back of the net late in the game as super-sub Merino scored in the 81st and 87th minutes to give Arsenal a crucial away win in the title race.

The win leaves Arsenal just four points from the top of the Premier League table, although league leaders Liverpool, although the Reds also have a game against Wolves.
