Japan's Blue Samurai named early World Cup favourites after cooking Canada
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is two years away, but Asian giant Japan has been declared favourites after another thrilling performance.
During the international break, Germany's two friendlies against the United States and Mexico were captained by Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.
Prior to the European Championships next summer, Nagelsmann said that the new Barcelona midfielder would continue as the captain of the team.
He has been a mainstay in the German team since making his debut in 2009, with the goalkeeper making 117 appearances for his nation, while he was named captain in 2017.
As quoted by the German tabloid Bild, Nagelsmann stated, “Ilkay will remain captain. It's important that we have continuity there.”
Neuer still remains in the recovery phase of his injury but there are doubts whether he will ever play for Germany again if he recovers from the serious injury.
