Former Manchester United interim boss Ruud Van Nistelrooy has been named as Leicester City's new head coach.
Leicester City have announced the signing of recently departed Manchester United interim manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy as their new head coach, replacing the sacked Steve Cooper.
Van Nistelrooy's last experience as a permanent head coach was also his only, a one-year stint at PSV. He curiously chose to be a subordinate under Erik ten Hag earlier in the year, and while it was a head-scratcher for many, as coach to assistant coach is not the most common trajectory, the decision has now clearly bore fruit.

The details
The Foxes fired Steve days ago, after only five months in charge, following a dreadful five-game winless run that left them just one point above the relegation slots.
First-team coach Ben Dawson took the job on an interim basis and is expected to be in the dugouts for this weekend’s Premier League clash against Brentford soon after which Van Nistelrooy, who was unveiled today, would take the reigns. He signed a two-year-deal.
The Dutchman's stocks saw an exponential rise after his brief run in the Red Devils dugout: a four-match unbeaten run. He managed to galvanise the side, so much so that many fans wanted him to continue until at least the end of the season.
The Red Devils’ leadership moved swiftly as they named Ruben Amorim as the permanent manager. While Ruud had expressed his desire to continue, the Portuguese tactician reportedly preferred to have his own staff.
Only a matter of days later, he has landed a Premier League job and was reportedly preferred to the likes of Nico Kovac and Carlos Coberan.
