The Magpies steamrolled their way to three new Premier League records against Sheffield United

Newcastle returned to winning ways with a statement performers against newly-promoted Premier League side Sheffield United, breaking the same league record three times in a single match.

Newcastle walk Sheffield United to humiliating defeat

The 8-0 mauling of Sheffield United was the largest losing margin in the Blades’ league history, surpassing a 10-3 loss to Middlesbrough suffered in 1933.

This was not the only record that Newcastle managed to create on the day, however, as they also broke the record for the team with the most different goal scorers in one game three separate times.

All of the Magpies’ eight goals were scored by different individuals, and with the former record standing at five different goalscorers, Newcastle were able to set a new record with each of their last three goals.

Newcastle create Premier League records with Sheffield win

Goals from Miguel Almiron, Bruno Guimares, and Alexander Isak joined those from Sean Longstaff, Dan Burn, Sven Botman, Callum Wilson, and Anthony Gordon to help Newcastle to a special place in Premier League history.

Apart from the records, the win was important for Newcastle, who had struggled with the first few games of the season and had lost three of their first five matches of the new campaign before facing Sheffield United.

Sheffield United, on the other hand, have now been pushed to the bottom of the Premier League table after the disastrous loss, which shattered their goal difference.
