NFF President said the reduction will help the federation to save Millions

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has said the federation will reduce the technical and administrative crews of the national teams.

Only four coaches will be attached to national teams - Gasau

Gasau said that only four coaches will be attached to the country’s national teams, saying that the action will take effect with Nigeria’s U-17, Golden Eaglets.

He added that the federation can’t afford to spend millions on seven to eight coaches for the national teams.

He said, “We started with Super Eagles by trimming the backroom staff to a manageable number from the over 20 attained in the past during their last friendly in Portugal. This, I must confess, saved us millions of Naira that should have gone toward the payment of flight tickets and accommodations, as well as daily allowances and expenditures.

“These measures will also affect the Super Falcons, Falconets, Flamingos, Olympic Eagles, and other age-grade national teams. Henceforth, only four coaches will be attached to each of the national teams, but perhaps, the Super Eagles and Super Falcons will get some preferential treatment as the occasion demands.

“The issue of coaches cut across all national teams including the Super Eagles. We cannot manage 7-8 coaches in a team. That is an invitation to chaos and it’s money-consuming. To this end, we have told some of the coaches that their services are no longer required while some may be redeployed,” Gusau told Complete Sports.

Gasau was elected as the NFF boss in September 2022 in Benin, Edo State.
