Super Eagles star Terem Moffi's recovery is in full swing

OGC Nice manager Franck Haise has provided a positive update on the fitness of Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi, who has been sidelined for nearly nine months due to a persistent hamstring injury.

Ahead of their crucial Ligue 1 clash against Monaco, Haise revealed that Moffi has made significant progress and could be included in the squad for the match.

Moffi nears return after lengthy absence

Moffi, who last featured for Nice during their pre-season preparations in July, suffered a hamstring injury that has kept him out of action ever since.

After months of recovery, he gradually returned to light training in February before fully rejoining the squad earlier this month. However, given the nature of long-term injuries, Nice have taken a cautious approach to prevent a setback.

Initially, there were plans for Moffi to regain match sharpness by playing with Nice’s under-21 team in a friendly against Brighton.

However, Haise decided against it, explaining that the team was too young, and instead, the Nigerian forward participated in a 1.5-hour training session to continue rebuilding his fitness.

Haise confirms the plan for Moffi

Speaking ahead of Nice’s Ligue 1 encounter with Monaco, Haise confirmed Moffi’s improvement, stating, "Terem (Moffi) and Morgan are in the run-in, yes.

“They were supposed to play on Wednesday, but the team was very young and it was our big session of the week, so we thought it was better to do a big 1.5-hour session.

"Terem has improved over the last ten days. In terms of sequences and dynamism. We can start different players depending on the matches. You’ll see tomorrow!"

With just eight Ligue 1 games remaining, Moffi’s chances of starting a league match this season are slim. Given his long absence, Nice are unlikely to rush him back into the starting XI, especially with the team performing well in his absence.
