The ex-Arsenal star has been rewarded for his performances for Middlesbrough in December.
Nigeria-eligible striker Chuba Akpom has been named the Skybet Championship player for December following his exploits in front of goal for Middlesbrough.
Akpom has been arguably Boro's best player this season, taking his performance to a higher level in December. The 27-year-old scored four goals for Boro in December, including a hat-trick against Wigan Athletic.

Akpom also scored against Luton last month as Boro won three out for games they played. Reacting to his win, Akpom expressed his gratitude while expressing his mission to help the team reach its targets this season.

“I’m grateful and humbled, and it’s amazing to receive the award. I just want to be able to carry on my form and help the team reach our targets," Akpom said.
Meanwhile, Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick was full of praise for his star man but said his win belonged to the whole team.

“I’m delighted for Chuba. He’s been playing really well and I’m sure he’d be the first to acknowledge the role of his team-mates in laying the foundations. Individual awards are always good because overall it means you are doing well as a team," Carrick said.
Akpom has been on fire for Boro all season with 13 goals in 19 league matches. The former Arsenal star's goals have helped Boro to fifth spot on the Championship table.
However, he may not be available for Boro for long as he is attracting interest from Premier League clubs. Nigeria manager Jose Peseiro may also be keeping an eye on the 27-year-old ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau in March.
Although he was born in England, Akpom is eligible to play for Nigeria through his parents. The ex-PAOK Salonika has already expressed his interest to play for the three-time African champions.
