The competition will take place from April 29 to May 19, 2023, in Algeria.

Nigeria's golden eaglets have been placed in Pot 1 following the release of the procedure for the 2023 U-17 African Cup of Nations by the Confederations of African Football (CAF).

According to the guidelines released by CAF, host Algeria, defending champions Cameroon, and Nigeria are placed in Group 1.

Group 2 has Senegal, Mali, and Morocco, while Group 3 has South Africa, Burkina Faso, Congo, Somalia, South Sudan, and Zambia.

The championship will feature 12 countries and will be staged in Algeria.

The Golden Eaglets are WAFU-B champions; the Eaglets defeated all comers, winning all their matches en route to winning the title.

Nigeria sealed the deal with a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over a stubborn Burkina Faso team to be crowned champions.

Abubakar Abdullahi was the hero of the day after scoring both goals to help the Eaglets to victory.
