Ghana's coach stated that Super Eagles B showed more hunger after his side during their defeat to Nigeria in the CHAN qualifiers.

Ghana's Black Galaxies head coach, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, has confirmed that the Super Eagles B showed more hunger than his team.

Nigeria secured a convincing 3-1 victory at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, booking their ticket to the 2024 African Nations Championship.

Remo Stars' Sodiq Ismaila opened the scoring in the 18th minute, followed by quickfire goals from Junior Nduka and Saviour Isaac.

Ghana managed a consolation goal through Amankona Stephen in the 74th minute, but it was not enough to salvage the tie.

Dramani reflects on the defeat

Dramani, who arrived in Nigeria brimming with confidence, hoping to repeat Ghana's 2022 victory, witnessed a dominant display from the home team.

In a post-match press conference, Dramani acknowledged Nigeria's superior hunger and determination as key factors in Ghana's defeat.

"Every coach will feel disappointed, but the result remains what it is. "Nigeria showed much more hunger and did a lot of running. We gave away some key moments in the game, which turned out to be disastrous for us," Dramani admitted.

He continued, "After the first goal, the second and third goals can drain the strength and energy of a team. Nigeria showed a lot more hunger to get the win, especially in the first half."

This loss extends Ghana's absence from major tournaments, having also failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON.
