Mali’s Eagles humiliate Saudi Arabia
A blistering performance from the Eagles saw them soar above Roberto Mancini’s Falcons with ease at the Estadio Municipal, Portimao on Tuesday.
Two first-half goals from Moussa Doumbia and Hamari Traore and a third goal from Lassine Sinakoyo propelled the West Africans to a convincing win.
Saudi Arabia’s consolation goal came courtesy of legend, Salem Al-Dawsari, whose 58th-minute strike had initially halved the deficit to give the Green Falcons hope of another comeback.
Nigerians call out Super Eagles boss Peseiro
Following the brilliant display from their fellow West Africans, Mali, Nigeria’s head coach, Jose Peseiro, has come under heavy criticism.
You will recall that last Friday, Peseiro’s Eagles struggled against the Green Falcons, who earned a thrilling share of the spoils after the game ended 2-2.
However, four days later, the Falcons were outclassed by the Eagles from Mali, with their dominant performance igniting a wave of conversations and debates among Nigerians, who could not help but contrast it with the display from their team.
Nigerians took to social media to express their concerns about the perceived inconsistency in the Super Eagles under the guidance of Peseiro, who believes Nigeria can win the next AFCON.
Here are some of the reactions to what they believe to be a stark contrast in the performance of Mali’s Eagles and the Nigerian Super Eagles.
