The Super Eagles of Nigeria will play their AFCON qualifying fixture against Guinea-Bissau in Morocco
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will play the away fixture of their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea Bissau in Morocco.
Nigeria are billed to play back-to-back games against Guinea-Bissau in Group A of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
One of the games in the double-header is an away match but it cannot be played in Guinea-Bissau as CAF did not approve any of their stadiums for this qualification series.
Guinea-Bissau to host the Super Eagles in Morocco
According to a recent report by Morocco World News, Guinea Bissau will play the second leg of their AFCON qualifiers against Nigeria in Morocco.
CAF did not approve any stadium in Guinea-Bissau for the qualifiers which means they would have to make do with neutral venues and Morocco have reportedly volunteered their stadiums.
Guinea Bissau will have to choose one of Casablanca’s Mohammed V Complex, Rabat’s Moulay Abdellah Complex, Grand Stade de Marrakech, Agadir’s Stade Adrar, Grand Stade de Tanger, and Grand Stade de Fez.
The first leg will be at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja or the Godswill Akpabio Stadium inUyo on the 20th of March before going away for the reverse fixture in a week.
The Super Eagles are familiar with Morocco
Nigeria have already played once in Morocco during this qualifying group phase in the last game against Sao Tome and Principe.
Peseiro's men romped to an emphatic victory against Sao Tome, putting 10 unreplied goals past the sorry hosts who are also playing their home games in Morocco for the same reasons as Guinea-Bissau.
That win was Nigeria's second in two games after initially beating Sierra Leone 2-1 giving the Super Eagles a 100% record in qualifying at the moment.
Two wins in the double-header against Guinea-Bissau would put Nigeria in pole position to top the group and qualify for the 2024 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
