The Flamingos, Nigeria's U17 girls, have intensified their preparations for their match against Algeria in the first leg of the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup final qualifying phase, which is set to take place at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo this weekend.

Since defeating South Africa's Bantwana in two legs last month, the 2022 World Cup bronze medalists have been in camp at the prestigious Remo Stars Sports Institute under the close supervision of head coach Bankole Olowookere and his staff.

Nigeria defeated South Africa 3-1 at Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria in the first leg, then 2-0 at Ikenne-Remo for a commanding 5-1 total.

After losing 2-1 to Botswana in Gaborone in the first leg, the Algerians came back strong to win 4-0 in the second leg in North Africa.

Referees for Nigeria vs Algeria

The match officials are anticipated to arrive in Nigeria on Thursday, while the Algerian girls, whose senior team lost to the Super Falcons in two friendly games in Ikenne-Remo and Lagos in October of last year, will land in Lagos on Wednesday evening.

Immaculate Ongiera and Diana Murungi, both of Nabadda's countrymen, will be the assistant second and fourth officials, respectively.

The Flamingos take on Algeria on Saturday, April 19, 2025 in the first leg.

The game will take place in Remo and will be available to watch on NFF TV.

On Friday, April 25, both teams will square off in the return leg at the Stade Mustapha Tchaker in Blida, which is outside of Algiers.

The team with the highest aggregate score advances to the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup finals.

Morocco will host the FIFA U17 Women's World Cup this year from October 17 to November 8.
